AUSTIN — March 10, 2025 — Yorkseed House, Yorkseed's founder and investor pop-up series, marked its first-ever edition this week, hosted in partnership with The Lively & Grit Daily House during SXSW 2025 — a single-day activation put together in under 24 hours.
The idea came together the night before: with SXSW in full swing and no dedicated Yorkseed presence on the ground, the team reached out to The Lively & Grit Daily House about sharing space for a single day. By the next morning, a loose plan for an investor panel and open pitching session had turned into a full day of programming — booked, staffed, and promoted to the Yorkseed network in less time than most activations spend on venue selection alone.
Held at 206 San Marcos St in Austin, the pop-up ran from 9:30AM to 5PM and drew 107 attendees and 6 investors across two events, becoming one of the most talked-about activations of the week despite its last-minute build. Founders, investors, and operators used the day to connect, pitch, and build relationships that extended past the conference itself — several attendees later credited introductions made that day with follow-on meetings that continued long after SXSW wrapped.

The centerpiece of the day was the Yorkseed Investor Panel, Beyond the Check — a candid discussion with six investors on what actually makes founders investable, alongside informal pitching, an open bar, and a podcast recording with How Cool Is This? The panel ran longer than scheduled, spilling into an impromptu Q&A that organizers said was the most-requested part of the day in post-event feedback.
"We've hosted a lot of pop-ups during SXSW, and most of them feel like a booth. This one felt like a room people actually wanted to be in — which, considering they had less than a day to plan it, says a lot about who they know how to bring together."
This was Yorkseed's first activation in Austin, the city where Yorkseed itself was founded a year earlier out of a viral, unofficial SXSW 2023 events list — a curated document of badge-free events that circulated widely among founders and investors that year before Yorkseed existed as a company. It became the first edition of what would grow into the Yorkseed House series, which has since run in New York and Paris, with Yorkseed House returning to Austin for SXSW 2027.
